Excitation of Lamb‐waves in plates

Abstract

Lamb waves show great potential in the detection of structural defects in plate and shell structures. In the sense of the adaptive structures concept the wave generation takes place with help of integrated piezoelectric ceramics. For a steel plate with adhered piezoelectric actuator, analytical calculations, FEM simulations, and experimental results are in good agreement. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
