Abstract

Hope is essential for life and for a peaceful death. Older persons receiving palliative care want to live with hope. Their hope is to not suffer, have a peaceful death and focused on a better future for others. The Living with Hope Program was developed specifically for older persons receiving palliative homecare services to help foster their hope. It has been evaluated and found to increase hope and quality of life in this population. The purpose of this chapter is to describe the Living with Hope Program so that palliative homecare nurses can provide it as a resource for the persons they are caring for.
