Despite numerous reports that increasing gender and racial diversity in management and leadership often result in positive outcomes, women continue to experience challenges as they strive toward the highest levels of management and leadership in their organizations. It is clear that women in leadership roles are continuing to struggle with some of the same issues, concerns, and challenges that have been described in the literature for years. This Special Issue on Women Psychologists in Management and Leadership in The Psychologist Manager Journal emerged out of a growing curiosity about whether psychologists in leadership and management might be in a position to offer some new perspectives on these issues, perhaps in terms of perceptions of women’s performance as leaders, the satisfaction experienced by women in these roles, and the evolution—or lack thereof—in the challenges that these women are experiencing. This introduction provides an overview of the multiple perspectives presented in the special issue. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2020 APA, all rights reserved)
