Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation of exocrine glands, mainly the lacrimal and salivary glands. The disease may occur either independently (primary SS) or in association with other autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, and systemic lupus erythematosus (secondary SS) [1, 2].
