Abstract

The National Institute of Education is the sole teacher education institute in Singapore and it provides pre-service pedagogical training for all teachers in Singapore. Annually, the Institute graduates nearly 1000 teachers for the primary schools and about 700 pre-service teachers for secondary schools. There are 3 pre-service training programmes for Primary school teachers in Singapore but in this lecture, I shall be discussing only one of these namely, the BA/BSc with Dip Ed, a four-year undergraduate programme with pedagogical training as well as in-depth content knowledge in two academic subjects.
