Abstract

Many recent advances have been made in elucidating the pathogenesis of endocrine tumors. The development of a plethora of technological advances such as high-throughput RNA expression profiling, proteomic analysis, laser capture microdissection, and microRNA analyses should advance our knowledge of endocrine tumor development and lead to new methods of diagnosing and predicting the behavior of these tumors. New diagnostic and treatment modalities including new pharmacologic agents and individualized therapy approaches are emerging for the treatment of endocrine diseases. © 2010 Springer-Verlag New York.
