We describe 3 cases of invasive fungal disease in the setting of transplantation-associated immunosuppression, developing months to years after clinically resolved penetrating soft-tissue injuries with wood fragments. Invasive fungal disease resulting from remote inoculation is a distinct syndrome in immunocompromised patients presenting with soft-tissue abnormalities in areas of prior trauma. © The Author(s) 2010.
