Abstract

The perineal wound is a difficult area to keep clean and dry. Postpartum mothers with perineal wounds complain of pain in their sutures and difficulty in doing activities. Perineal wound care is important to accelerate wound healing, avoid infection, and repair tissue. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of decoction water of young areca nut and Kandis acid on pain intensity and perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers. This study used a quasi-experiment with a pre-post test with a control group design approach with a sample of 22 postpartum mothers consisting of 11 people intervention group and 11 people control group which are selected by accidental sampling. The measuring instruments were using the NRS pain scale and the Southampton scale and the Bates-Jensen Wound Continuity Scoring.
