Abstract

This research paper looks at the situation of the elderly in Sweden because the country has the highest percentage of the elderly in the world, & almost every one is well taken care of in their last years of life. The paper used the most up to date data, most of which are available in English. The paper focused on the development of the numbers of the elderly over time, their marital status, mortality, & causes of death among this group. The second part of the paper examined the ways in which this group is cared for via looking at the health system, social services, housing, social & cultural life, & the cost of these services. The paper showed that the elderly are well taken care of regardless of their income. The municipality supplements the lower incomes with varying degrees of support. 12 Tables, 2 Figures, 7 References. Adapted from the source document.
