This chapter starts the discussion on semantic service provision by establishing a common terminology. Furthermore, we are introducing a non-trivial use case scenario, which acts as a base for the following explanations in the book. Based on both the terminology and the use case, this chapter defines the semantic service provision lifecycle based on the introduced core building blocks. © 2008 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
