Abstract

This paper offers a case study of the newspaper and television businesses as they morph into the digital age. Starting with an overview of the challenges facing these industries and the changes they have made to adapt to digital consumers, it compares these changes, discusses the ramifications and looks toward the future of newspapers and television, suggesting that although the television business may be better positioned to sustain more traditional models, incumbent players in both worlds need to reinvent themselves to cater to the digital consumer. The paper offers suggestions incumbent players should take to remain relevant in a digital world and looks toward the future of media consumption.
