6.8% of vitiligo cases in Northern India develop after 50 years of age, and the NSV is proportionally more important when compared to other age groups. Late-onset vitiligo is a rather new clinical research topic, and refl ects probably a neglected in fair-skinned population and data regarding this issue are lacking. The increased average life expectancy in both the developed and developing countries is probably another possible reason for the recent interest in late onset cases of vitiligo. Melanocyte, and immune system senescence are possible reasons for late-onset vitiligo. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
