Abstract

In light of this historical development toward a more holistic approach described in the previous chapter, the author suggests that the next major milestone in pentecostal missions will center on the challenge and opportunity to engage all areas of society in the power of the Spirit. In the twenty-first century, pentecostals need to (1) go beyond church planting and mercy ministries, and engage with questions related to government, business, science, and the arts as well—an approach often described as the vision of the seven mountains. In order to (2) avoid an unwarranted triumphalism (as is often associated with dominion theology), the researcher proposes (3) a public theology approach that invites pentecostals to serve the common good.
