>From very simple beginnings, the reintroduction of salmon into the Jacques-Cartier is now part of a very considerable programme, involving a firmly based restoration programme. The Jacques-Cartier restoration project has stimulated feelings for the river which are deeply embedded in the very heart of the local community. Moreover, the project appeals to an often unconfessed willingness to help and results in a community feeling which has always sought expression, although not always successfully.
