Abstract

The implementation of a parallel simulation procedure for cable and membrane structures is presented. The procedure includes contact detection and enforcement.Tw o different domain decompositions are simultanously used. For the simulation a static partitioning is computed; for the contact detection a dynamically updated parallel RCB decomposition is used. An overview is also given of the strategy for the detailed geometric contact detection procedures. An example of a falling cloth is included to demonstrate. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2002.
