Abstract

Server rooms are essential in having or building businesses. On other occasions, it can be seen in the home or mini workstations. In some instances, when the temperature in a server room goes too high or cannot maintain the ideal room temperature, the servers will shut down automatically due to overheating. Internet of Things and Global System for Mobile Based Temperature and Humidity Monitoring System provides real-time checking of the temperature and humidity inside the server room. The device offers various commands that the user can send to achieve the accepted values. Moreover, the gathered data in real-time is sent to the webserver ThingSpeak. In addition to that, it has a quarterly update in both SMS and the Telegram app. It utilizes the strength of both IoT and GSM in order to cater to the Filipino’s needs. The heart of this project is the AHT20 sensor, one of the recently released sensors that surpass the specs of the DHT sensors. Meanwhile, its brain is the RasPi and Arduino Mega module. RasPi handles the IoT and calibration of the project while Arduino Mega is tasked with the IoT, GSM and acts as an actuator for the Air Conditioner. The project’s limit, however, is that it is AirCon specific. The researchers recommend that future researchers find a board with higher storage capacity to control more brands and types of Air Conditioners.
