Abstract

A review is given of a magnetization reversal in a variety of nanostructured magnetic films. Emphasis is placed on coercivity mechanisms and magnetic switching volumes in multilayers with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, metastable-phase nanostructures with in-plane anisotropy, high coercivity nanostructured films, and exchange-coupled, hard-soft heterostructures. Some of these films have high potential in information storage or nanoelectronic applications.
