Abstract

With the rapid advancement of digital technologies, coupled with the development of an infrastructure of ubiquitous broadband communication networks, digital library is established to provide people with all kinds of digital resources, such as such as image, video, audio and speech, etc. However, this facility also causes an increasingly rampant piracy, because the dishonest customers can easily duplicate and redistribute their received digital content to a large audience. Therefore, how to protect the security and related copyright of the digital content in digital library has become increasingly critical, especially considering the ease of manipulating of digital data and the convenient and high-speed communication network. In this paper, we discuss the strategies of how to protect and manage the copyrighted digital content in digital library. The major technologies which are encryption, digital watermarking and digital fingerprinting are introduced in this paper. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
