Abstract

A spatial stability study of the nonparallel developing flow in a channel shows that in the near inlet region, the critical Reynolds number based on the growth rate of stream function at the channel center line is only 80% of that for the parallel flow theory, but the difference diminishes downstream. © 1981 American Institute of Physics.
