Optical luminescence yield spectra of CaF2 through x-ray excitation in the energy region of the Ca K edge (4.0 keV) are reported. Experiments with samples prepared differently - a powder layer, a pellet, and a single crystal - at 90 K and 30 K were performed. It is found in the measurements at 90 K that the yield spectrum is similar to the absorption spectrum, but for the pellet and the single crystal the edge jump is inverted. With lowering the temperature to 30 K, the edge jumps become positive for all the samples. Recent results of theoretical simulations of the yield spectra are discussed. © 1993 The Japan Society of Applied Physics.
