Abstract

Physical effects responsible for existence of Ball lightning are considered. It is shown that Ball lightning can be a pure optical phenomenon where only an intense light and compressed air interact. An anomalous great light intensity and light lifetime within Ball lightning are analyzed. © EDP Sciences, Società Italiana di Fisica, Springer-Verlag 2005.
