Abstract

The debate around health and well-being is increasingly expanding in our societies, among professionals, researchers, policy-makers, non-profit organizations, and political movements. This phenomenon reflects the relevance of this issue, at the same time shedding light on the ambiguities it endorses and the contradictory attitudes of society towards the conceptualization of mental health. We can identify at least three aspects of this debate that highlight these ambiguities and contradictions. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
