Abstract

Knowledge is the basis of all professional activities, including decision-making. Declarative knowledge, or “knowledge-that” provides the theoretical foundation and justification for decision-making, while procedural knowledge, or “knowledge-how” provides the procedural foundation for complex cognitive tasks, such as catheter-based cardiovascular interventions. Traditionally, the intervention-based curricula has focused on declarative knowledge. This chapter places equal emphasis on procedural knowledge.
