Abstract

Fibrobacteres is a small bacterial phylum which includes many of the major rumen bacteria. Fibrobacter, the only genus of Fibrobacteres, contains two cultivated species, F. succinogenes and F. intestinalis. Fibrobacter-related sequences have been assigned to a subphylum of the Fibrobacteres. There are currently two subphyla in the Fibrobacteres lineage.
