Abstract

Synthetic chemicals that disrupt the endocrine system could create health and environmental problems that affect future generations. Scientists can offer expertise on this and other matters of urgency, yet some scientists maintain that advocacy by scientists is inappropriate. In this Viewpoint article, the author argues that scientists should offer advice on issues that affect public well-being. © 2008 American Chemical Society.
