AbstrakThe essence of plagiarism is the passing off of another's idea as one's own orplagiarism is the borrowing of someone else's work withollt allribution.Academic plagiarism occurs when a writer repeadtedly lIses more wordsfrom a printed source wi/hollt the quo/ion mark and a precise reference tooriginal sources. Although plagiarism is most often treated as an ethical andmoral, rather than legal matter, unattributed copying can also constitute oneor more of a variety of legal wrongs. In this article, we briefly consider thecircumstances under which unattributed copying might constitute copyrightinfringement, unfair competition, or a violation of moral rights.
