Abstract

(from the chapter) At the very beginning of the project one idea was to develop a simple application (AppStore approach) for downloading from one of the Standard AppStores powered by Apple or Google. But during our analysis of the requirements supported by the focus groups, intemal testing and research, we quickly recognized that the desired features and functionalities could not be implemented with a simple App-based graphical user interface (GUI) approach. The flexibility and capabilities standard software development kits provided were by far not powerful enough to fulfil our needs. So we took the hard way and developed a completely new GUI adapted to the specific needs of our target audience replacing the Standard Android GUI (Start Screen).
