Abstract

We examine six lifestyles (modern life, digital life, religious life, global life, political life, family life) and relative standard of living of the people in 29 Asian countries and societies. As to modern life measured by the number of public utilities asked in the AsiaBarometer Surveys, the Taiwanese people have the highest level of modern life in 29 Asian countries and societies, while the people in Myanmar have the lowest level of modern life. The levels of digital life and global life are not high in Asia. As to religious life, the percentage of religious affiliation is high in the 29 countries and societies except North East Asia. As to political life, voter turnout is high in Asia. Over 60% of the respondents in 22 countries and societies vote either every time or most of the time at their national elections. As to family life, a vast majority of countries and societies have over around four or five family members on average, 77% have their own home, and over 90% eat home-cooked meals at home.
