Abstract

Looks into the key factors that can enhance the combat motivation of soldiers in reference to the operational successes of Israel Defense Forces. Definition of combat motivation; Association of lower levels of combat stress and demoralization with professional leadership; Consideration of unit cohesion or esprit de corps as a powerful preventive measure against psychiatric breakdown in battle as a generator of heroic behavior among the unit's members.
