Abstract

Atypical or dysplastic nevus is our preferred term for a group of melanocytic skin tumors which cause endless debate and controversy. Synonyms include atypical mole, BK mole, Clark nevus, and nevus with architectural disorder. In 1978 Wallace H. Clark, Jr. first drew attention to this particular type of nevus by studying numerous melanocytic nevi in patients with concomitant melanomas. © 2007 Springer-Verlag.
