Abstract

After outlining the recent development of triticale crop and breeding efforts on this species in France - 160 000 ha in 1993 -, the main aspects of genetics and breeding programmes are described. This includes the selection schemes involving 3 generations of bulks, broadening the diversity of 6x triticale germplasm pool via primary 8x - with kr compatibility genes - and use of anther culture to produce DH lines. Information is also given on tetraploid triticales and concerning genetic resources conservation. NR - 0 PU - KLUWER ACADEMIC PUBL PI - DORDRECHT PA - PO BOX 17, 3300 AA DORDRECHT, NETHERLANDS
