Some human activities result in the entire loss of orang-utan habitat, because regeneration of the forest is unlikely or impossible, for instance, in the case of conversion for agriculture or plantations of cash-crops (oil-palm, rice, maize, sugar, pulp-wood, rubber, coffee, tea, etc.), and open-pit mining.
