Mr. McBroom was a tyrannical boss who continuously intimidated his staff with his arbitrary moodiness. This might not have attracted attention if he had worked in an office or a factory, but Mr. McBroom was an airline captain. His co-pilots feared his temper so much that they wouldn't say a word, not even when it was obvious that the catastrophe was approaching. Ten people died when the plane crashed (Goleman 2001).
