In this paper we present usage scenarios for accessible multimedia messaging services (MMS) including scenarios for public transportation and information services for spas. Results of a survey are presented which was conducted to analyse the interest of potential users in services described by the scenarios. Additionally, the concept of media transformation for the realization of accessible multimedia messaging services and a basic architecture for the server side generation of multimedia messages based on user profiles are introduced. In this context, the problem of coherence of time-dependent media is discussed which occurs when information is presented using alternative media. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
