Sirolimus may promote thrombotic microangiopathy

Abstract

In this patient with a renal allograft, conversion from tacrolimus to sirolimus was associated with the appearance of severe thrombotic microangiopathy. Sirolimus discontinuation resulted was followed by full recovery, suggesting that the sirolimus played a role in the thrombotic microangiopathy.
