Abstract

This final chapter pulls together Freud’s ‘hints’ and ‘suspicions’ about time to see whether, despite his reluctance to divulge his ideas, a unified theory of his thoughts on time and its negative, timelessness, is in fact possible. The author concludes that that it is. Having assembled and analysed the collected fragments of Freud’s thoughts on time, the author provides a compelling summary of his theory of temporality and a possible explanation for his choice not to reveal his thoughts on time.
