Abstract

The pre-equilibrium period of the ion guiding through insulating nanocapillaries is characterized by the production of temporary charge patches inside the capillaries. The dynamics of the charge patch creation is revealed by oscillations of the mean emission angle of the emerging ions. To understand the oscillations, we propose a phenomenological model based on the retardation between charging and discharging of the patches. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
