Relationship between ergonomic workstations with musculoskeletal disorders and job stress among staff of bank in Tehran city

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate ergonomic workstations and its relationship with musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and job stress among bank staff in Tehran city. This was a descriptive-analytical study and its population included 350 out of 2,700 employees of all branches of a bank in Tehran (2016). The subjects were selected using random relative cluster sampling. Job stress, Nordic questionnaires and the ergonomic workstations checklist was used for data collection. T-test, correlation, one-way ANOVA and multiple regression methods was employed for data analysis. The highest prevalence of MSDs was seen in the lumbar (67.9%), neck (67%) and shoulder (50.10%). Total ergonomic index was lower among those who suffered from MSDs. The Job stress was higher than the moderate level. There was a negative and significant relationship between total ergonomic index and job stress (α = 0.05). Ergonomic factors of workstations affect on prevalence of MSDs and job stress.
