Abstract

Barrett's esophagus (BE) is a premalignant condition that can progress to esophageal adenocarcinoma. Recent advances in mucosal imaging have led to better detection and characterization of dysplasia and early cancer in BE. There is increasing interest in advanced imaging modalities which may enable endoscopists to detect and characterise dysplasia and early cancer. Although some of these technologies still remain investigational, others have been incorporated into the mainstream practice with variable results.
