Abstract

Transportation system is the lifeline of any country. There are various means of transportation such as land transportation, air transportation, and water transportation. These transportations system have various challenges such as defective planning transport system, use of obsolete asset and old technologies against rapid growth of population which causes accidents frequently. One of the major concerns for mankind today is road accidents, since it is the source of many deaths. However, to make robust road safety rules and regulations, it is required to get road accident information and analyze it correctly. Therefore, in this paper, road transportation is considered for future road accident prediction purpose. Although, the road accident data is heterogeneous in nature it leads to a tricky analysis. However, the accidental data is gathered and analyzed using statistical approach, i.e., linear regression (suitable algorithm for handling numeric data) for future prediction of road accidents on the basis of past happenings.
