Abstract

The book includes an introduction to formal semantics for conditional logic through an examination of the thought processes involved in evaluating conditionals; a comparison of the philosophical merits of various calculi and semantics, including both possible worlds and probabilistic semantics; a lengthy discussion of the controversy concerning disjunctive antecedents; a development of algebraic semantics for conditional logics; and discussions of such topics as counterfactual analyses of causation, the role time plays in the truth conditions for conditionals, and conditional probabilities and decision theory.
