Abstract

The research aims at finding out the relationship between Marital Satisfaction and Emotional Intelligence. Two tools were used namely Marital Satisfaction Scale (MSS) and Exploring Emotional Abilities (EEA). A fairly representative data of 316 respondents (age 25 to 65) was collected. The analysis indicates a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and marital satisfaction. The comparison of people high and low on emotional intelligence with respect to their marital satisfaction supports the finding. The analysis of couples in the sample also throws more light on the relationship. This research has tried to explore the interplay of various dimensions of emotional intelligence with marital satisfaction. This has helped in understanding the core traits of one’s emotionality, which influence the marital relationship.
