In this paper, advertisement examples will be studied, where common noun (cn) and proper noun (pn) have a syntactic behaviour analogous to that of adjectives. The constructions are of two kinds: x is cn and x is (adv of degree) cn or pn. The second construction has an adjectival function, whereas the first one is not clearly defined. Because there are cn and pn whose referential properties are faded, they qualify subject and continue being cn and pn, except when the noun has already undone a change into an adjective. © De Boeck Université.
