Abstract

This study aims to investigate the slang translation in dialogues from English into Persian using the model proposed by Venuti. For this end, "The Catcher in the Rye" with its two Persian renderings by Najafi (2010) and Karimi (2010) are considered. The findings obtained from the analysis of the related data show that translation of slangs based on the model proposed by Venuti does not convey the meaning as the target readers expect; a fact that shows the shortcomings of Venuti's model.
