Background: The mechanisms for angiotensin (Ang) II-induced podocytopathy are not clear. Results: Ang II induced calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CaMK) II/cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) and Wnt/β-catenin signaling activation in podocytes. Blocking CaMK II/CREB inhibited Ang II-induced Wnt/β-catenin signaling and blocking CaMK II/CREB/Wnt/β- catenin signaling attenuated Ang II-induced podocyte injury. Conclusion: CaMK II/CREB/Wnt/β-catenin signaling cascade regulates Ang II-induced podocytopathy. Significance: Targeting this pathway may offer protection against podocyte injury. © 2013 by The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Inc.
