Abstract

Despite the many publications analyzing the different aspects of the procedure, there is not a standardized technique for gluteal fat augmentation. We present a standardization of the gluteal fat injection technique, which consists of dividing the buttocks into aesthetic subunits and injecting fat in pre-established proportions in the subcutaneous planes according to the different gluteal shapes. We applied the similar principles of the MD Codes™ technique for injection of fillers to the face. This adaptation of the technique has been shown to be a versatile and reproducible technique to enhance the gluteal contour with high patient satisfaction and long-term outcomes. This technique has shown to be helpful especially in teaching trainees and young plastic surgeons who are beginning to perform this procedure.
