"The giant whale rests after many days a tranquil sea; Against a thousand sails the sun reflects as ships approach." As early as in Qin and Han Dynasties, the Maritime Silk Road, an ancient maritime transportation artery connecting East and West was established. It was one of the oldest maritime routes known to man. This seaway, which was the crystallization of wisdom and courage of oriental nations, has long borne the responsibility for cultural and commercial exchanges between East and West. Since the beginning of the 21st century, there have been frequent cultural and commercial exchanges among China and countries and regions along the ancient Maritime Silk Road. In light of this, the Chinese government seized the opportunity to put forth the strategic conception of building the 21st century Maritime Silk Road. The history mirrors both prosperity and depression. As for the issues of legacy and inheritance of the ancient route, I'm inclined to take a glimpse back in time to find some reference for the plan to rebuild the Maritime Silk Road today.
