Scholarship and research processes are changing in the digital age: large interdisciplinary research projects, IT-based and data-driven research open up innovative capacities while at the same time placing a high demand on research data management activities. The concept of the embedded data manager provides a solution, which besides being based on innovation and agility focuses on the principle of cooperation. This provides an opportunity to integrate academic libraries deeper in the research processes and to establish them as fixed entities in the academic world.
