Abstract

The effect of the amount of TiO2 loading on the photocatalytic activity of H2 evolution from aqueous methanol solution over a platinized TiO2/SiO2 catalyst was studied. UV diffuse reflectance spectra of TiO2/SiO2 showed the blue shift of absorption edge for the catalyst of lower amount of TiO2 loading, which suggested the higher dispersion of TiO2 on SiO2. The activity decreased monotonously with the decrease of the amount of TiO2 loading over SiO2, i.e. with the increase of the dispersion.
