Abstract

We will address some of the problems related to storing information in multiple storage devices that are individually unreliable, and connected in a network. As an application consider a sensor network deployment in a remote and inaccessible environment where sensor nodes are taking measurements (possibly after processing) and storing data in the network, over long time periods. A data collector may appear at any location in the network and try to retrieve as much useful data as possible. Another scenario is a sensor network deployed in a time-critical or emergency situation (e.g. fire, flood, earthquake). © 2008 Springer-Verlag US.
